Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Minesweeper War Badge, by Schwerin, c. 1941 United Republic of An Order of Academic Palms(Kriegsabzeichen fr Minensuch, U Boot Jagd und Sicherungsverbnde). Instituted August 31st, 1940. Constructed of gilded and silvered tombac, the obverse consisting of an oval oak wreath joined together at the base by a ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of an exploding sea mine, the reverse with a block hinge, vertical banjo style pinback, and flat wire catch, designer marked Otto Placzek,
