He spent his entire career, 1923 1939, with the New York Yankees, the team from his hometown. Gehrig had an impressively long list of accomplishments: . 340 batting average, seven time All Star, six time World Series champ, three time American League home run leader, and two time American League MVP to name a few. Sadly, he retired at the age of 36 due to complications from ALS and died
