A First War 78Th Canadian Infantry Battalion Cap Badge Auction marked “Kerbach & ÖesterheltA First War 78th Canadian Infantry Battalion Cap Badge "Winnipeg Grenadiers" Brass, unmarked, 38 mm x 44. 3 mm, intact lugs, light contact, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised and mobilized in Winnipeg, Manitoba under the authority of G. O. 103A, August 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed May 20, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel J. Kirkcaldy with a strength of 37 officers and 1,097 other ranks. The Battalion served in France
