Instituted 24 June 1914 by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig. (1914 1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Cross Patte, the obverse with dark blue enameled arms, bearing a central dark blue enameled medallion overlaid by a gilt eight rayed star, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 54. 82 mm (w) x 54. 83 mm (h), weighing
