Instituted in 1863. In bronze, measuring 31 mm in diameter, surface wear, along with residue evident in the recessed areas of the lettering on both sides, replacement ribbon, fine. Footnote: The medal was instituted on December 27, 1863 following Friedrichs proclamation as Duke but suppressed in 1866 following Prussias annexation of the Duchies
