Footnote: The Newfoundland Volunteer War Service Medal was designed by Ian H. Stewart CM (who was at that time Senior Designer in Residence at Memorial University in St John's, Newfoundland). It was created to honour those from Newfoundland & Labrador who served in British Forces outside of the province.
