Germany, Imperial. A U-Boat War Badge, c. 1918 Hold Iron Cross 2nd Class -(U Boot Kriegsabzeichen). Instituted February 1st, 1918. Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel wreath, topped by a German State Crown from which ribbons emanate on both side, overlaid by a central U Boat over a cut out background, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 50. 4 mm (w) x 47. 7 mm (l), with the gilt nearly completely worn off but remaining in fine condition.
