A gilded bronze cross constructed of a cross patte in black enamel, with gilded oak leaves between the cross arms, the obverse centre inscribed CONTEST DER ALLG D. KRIEGER ZEITUNG N. Y. 1894 (CONTEST FOR THE WAR NEWSPAPER N. Y. 1894), the reverse plain, measuring 35. 21 mm (w) x 35. 43 mm (h), weighing 8. 3 grams, on loop for suspension, and in extremely fine condition.
