Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Grand Duchy. A Silver Merit Medal, C.1845 Hold and the Austrian Empire Military(Silberne Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 1834 by Grand Duke Carl Friedrich. (1834 1857 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of DEM VERDIENSTE (FOR MERIT), within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 35. 57 mm in diameter, weighing 26. 7 grams
