Instituted by King Frederick I on 23 February 1748. Of fine French manufacture and quality, consisting of a large Maltese Cross with ball finials, each arm featuring hand filed diamond facets, with separately affixed winged charubs in each quadrant, with a silver patriarchal cross overlaid on each arm, obverse centre presenting large blue enameled field on Gold with a white enameled "IHS" representing the Order Motto Iesus
