They released their sophomore album Taking Over in 1987 on Megaforce, a metal label underr major label Atlantic. As thrash metal was breaking through to the mainstream, Overkill found some substantial success, breaking into Billboard's top 200 and getting consistent airplay on MTV's Headbangers Ball. They also went on tour with some of the biggest names in metal that year, like Megadeth
