A grouping of two merit crosses, consisting of 1) A Second Class Merit Cross 1849; constructed of bronze gilt, with red enamels arms; the obverse with a central white enameled medallion inscribed FJ in bronze gilt for Franz Joseph, surrounded why a white ring of enamels, inscribed VIRIBUS UNITIS (Latin Joining Forces); the reverse with a central white enameled medallion, inscribed 1849, surrounded by a bronze gilt ring; on a loop
