A Manganese inosilicate (or chain silicate), Rhodonite belongs to the Pyroxenoid group of minerals. It was originally found in the Ural mountains of Russia, where it was observed that the stone was often carried by eagles to their nests. This earned it the Russian name orletz or Eagle Stone.
