Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop from a crown suspension with its period original tri fold ribbon, the latter notably pinned with a sword clasp constructed of magnetic iron, the obverse of the medal bearing a raised and rightward facing profile of Emperor Franz Joseph, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of SIGNUM LAUDIS (SIGN OF PRAISE),
