It looks to me like they are snowflakes woven through the sweater. I estimate this to fit a modern size 6, please see measurements to confirm. NOTE: There is stretch in the sweater you can add an addl from any measurement that would be stretch. This is the sweater lying flat: Bust: 19" Waist: 17. 5 Shoulder: 16. 5 Length: 30" Sleeve: 24"
